Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)

  • Lye, when combined with the oil’s fatty acids (fat), is used to create a chemical reaction known as saponification. The result of this reaction is soap with glycerin. (No lye remains after the reaction occurs)

Calendula Flowers

Also known as the Marigold. This is a very special ingredient. It tightens the skin, helps heal damaged cells, and preserves the health of the skin’s ecosystem. Calendula helps hydrate dry skin and boosts new cell growth. It also exhibits many anti-inflammatory properties.

Comfrey Leaf and Organic Comfrey Root

A great healer of inflammatory skin disorders and believed to be a demulcent, meaning it soothes irritated tissue including skin tissue. Said to heal wounds, cuts, insect bites and bruises. People know it as knitbone because of its action against broken bones, ligaments, pulled muscles, fractures, sprains, strains, and osteoarthritis. Contains substances that help the skin regrow, including allantoin, rosmarinic acid, and tannins.


Alfalfa Leaves

The rich vitamin A in alfalfa is known to help soothe dry skin and redness. The vitamin A and enzymes in alfalfa also keep the skin healthy and glowing. These leaves help to detoxify the body and pull impurities from the skin giving it a firm texture and youthful complexion.

Organic Spirulina

Native to Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. Most people recognize this plant as a coffee substitute because of its caffeine content. However, they fail to realize it also contains a lot of nutrients for the skin, like vitamins A, B1, B2, & C, nourishing fatty acids and antioxidant packed polyphenols. Yerba Mate is also thought to help with certain conditions of the hair and skin because it contains saponins, which are phytochemicals that have been found to specifically stimulate the immune system, aiding the body in protection against hair disorders and skin diseases.

Activated Charcoal

Black Lava Sea Salt

This is an all natural sea salt with activated charcoal derived from Hawaiian coconuts. It is commonly believed this blend helps draw out toxins and impurities from the body and skin. Known to have many antioxidants and works as a detoxification agent.


Himalayan Pink Salt

Packed with 84 minerals including calcium, sodium, magnesium, manganese, iodine, potassium, fluoride, zinc, chromium, cobalt, copper, and gold. Originating from the foothills in the Punjab province of Pakistan, making it a natural exfoliant. Thought to soften and moisturize the skin, brighten dull skin, reduce the appearance of skin imperfections such as; blemishes, fine lines, and acne scars. May help slow down signs of premature aging and might help mask body odor. Believed to help maintain the protective barrier of the skin, while allowing it to hold in hydration.

Organic Oat Flour

Many cultures have used oat flour to soothe irritation of the skin. Oat flour may help to soften and moisturize the skin. Also helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Oat flour has been used to minimize scarring from acne. The extraordinary ingredient also acts as an anti-inflammatory and itch reliever.


Pumice Ground

Pumice stone is an igneous rock that is formed during volcanic eruptions. A natural exfoliant that removes dead skin cells and cleans the pores to reveal your skin’s natural complexion. It can also be helpful in dry skin issues such as; dry elbows, knees and feet. Helps get rid of ingrown hairs. Is sustainable, eco-friendly and effective at smoothing out calluses. Works like clay because it also soaks up sebum, making it especially helpful for those with oily, acne-prone skin. Volcanic ash is known to contain antiseptic, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties.

Cornmeal

Cornmeal is one of our favorite exfoliating ingredients. It’s very effective in removing dead skin cell particles from the skin. Also, cornmeal naturally prevents dry pores and skin. A cornmeal scrub can help with blood circulation, which gives the skin a healthy glow. Exfoliation is a big part of skin care that unfortunately is often overlooked. Exfoliation removes cell build-up and helps stimulate the emergence of new skin cells, improving skin texture.
